What Happens to Timeshares When You Die?

If there is a timeshare ownership deed in your name, it will pass on to your legal heirs in case of your death. If your timeshare was owned jointly between you and another partner, the timeshare will be transferred in your partner's name after your death. If you are an individual owner, there should be a will so that the property can pass on to your nominated heirs smoothly. In the absence of a will, the property will still get transferred to your heirs under the intestacy statute. If the timeshare property is located in another country or anther state, the executor of your will may have to arrange for an ancillary probate.
