We have a time share at the Ocean Beach Club and had our first stay there May 12th-19th. It was very comfortable, although the valet parking made us feel a little "trapped". We didn't have free access to our car (the key was given to the valet) and we had to have our car brought around every time we wanted to go out - even to get a quart of milk. And we felt we had to tip $1.00 each time. Even to get a sweater out of the car we had to ask for our key. Didn't like that. We were disappointed that our cell phone was unable to work in the hotel. We had to step outside to make and receive phone calls. But the accommodations are top-of-the-line. The Tiki bar wasn't open yet. We had to ride a trolley car back and forth down into the town where all the action is. We recommend the miniature golf course (36 hole) at Motor World (right next to the Virginia Marine Science Museum) and we highly recommend the seafood chowder at the Catch 31 restaurant by the Neptune statue. That chowder was pretty much worth the 9 hour trip down there! It's only $7.95 and comes with homemade rolls. Just be sure to bring lots and lots of money. Virginia Beach is so darn expensive. We ate at the Pizzeria across the street from The Ocean Beach Club and paid $9.95 for a plate of pasta with Alfredo Sauce on it and then an extra $4.95 for four meatballs on top! The pitcher of Sangria was $14.95, very small and was all ice and fruit. I guess the merchants assume that if you have a time share at The Ocean Beach Club you're RICH. We could save all year and still not have enough money to do what we want to do at Virginia Beach. We brought lots of frozen food in our cooler for meals, but the atmosphere at VA Beach intices you to eat out. The little grocery store across the street from The Ocean Beach Club is grossly over-priced. It's discouraging. I don't know if we'll be able to continue to afford going down there - timeshare or not. But it is a glorious escape. The sun is bright and the mood is tropical and cheery. You forget about the worries and stresses at home. It's a real get-away. Avoid the hawkers on the street (just cross over) and again, I say, BRING LOTS OF MONEY. Seems like time share owners should be cut some slack - given some breaks - we're not tourists, afterall - we come back again and again!! Some coupons just for us would have calmed my anxiety!!

The Ocean Beach Club was a enjoyable place to stay. I feel that for the price we were paying though it was not at all living up to my expectations. First, the air conditioners were leaking in all three rooms, so the whole place smelled like mildew. when asked what they could do they said that they would put a fan in there but nothing more could be done. as far as comping us a few dollars off the bill considering we were paying over 300 dollars a night to smell mildew, there was no offer. We requested another room and they wanted to give us a room on the oppisite side of the resort not facing the beach and no balconies, for the same price. Now I dont want to sound petty, but this is one of the few familiey vacations I have gotten since I have joined the military. So I expect to get whatI pay for. And we paid for a ocean view room with with two balconies. Next the bar was out of everything!!! The first three drinks I requested they couldn't make cause they were out of mixers. Dont get me wrong I wasn't ordering anything crazy, Wiskey sour, pina colada, The regular drinks I thought a bar would have. Then it took them 3 days to get the Mixers, very unperfesional I thought when they are selling what there selling as a resort. Then we had an incident where we could not locate a purse and the last place we were at was by the bar, so I asked the night manager for assistance to see if he can get someone to check in the bar due to it had been closed. He stated that the hotel had no keys and I had to wait till tommrow for help. This just amazed me, How can a hotel not have a key for its own bar! I thought that they were least than helpful in a critical situation. These were the main issues I had, they werent extreme, but I expected alot more for what we were paying.
