We rented from www.rentexclusiveresorts.com $420 for the week, 2 bedroom. It was awesome. We recieved towels and chocolates. The room was always kept clean. No bugs. The pool was great. It was really close to the shopping malls and centers. The vaulted ceilings and large ensuite was just perfect for us. The second bedroom had 2 quen beds. Excellent vacation. We plan on going again this year. -Review courtesy of Sandra Easton (stayed during Nov, 2005) |

We had the pleasure of staying in unit 11-302 at the Kona Coast Resort (also known as Keauhou Gardens). This was a fantastic unit. This unit was a two bed-room 2 bath unit. The brochure said 1500 + square feet and it certainly was. There was plenty of privacy for the four of us. Two couples. The entire unit was spotless, well decorated, and well supplied. The kitchen was huge with all the modern conveniences. We would typically have breakfast on the Lanai, which had a gorgeous full front ocean view and then after a hard day at play reconvene there for the sunset.
The resort itself was equally beautiful and the staff very friendly and informative. It is one of the Shell Vacation Club Resorts. They have two very nice pools and two spas as well as a nicely furnished exercise room and walking trail. Barbeques abound and there also is an onsite restaurant and bar and a full time concierge who can help you with activities, etc. The resort is surrounded by two beautiful golf courses and a fairway is the only thing between the resort and the ocean. The resort is in walking distant to 3 nice beaches and a boat harbor where some of the water excursions take off from. Additionally, with in short walking distance (less than ¼ mile) is a very nice shopping center with fine restaurants, a theater, full size grocery store, and other shops. Downtown Kona is about 4 miles to the north, where additional shopping, dining, and activities can be found. You will also want to go to volcano national park, where among other things you can view the lava flow. I recommend you plan your trip so you are there at sunset so you can find a place to watch the flow, which is much more visible at night.
Our unit was not a timeshare unit and was owner owned. We were never asked or prodded to participate in a timeshare presentation however we had access to all of the facilities. It was like having the best of both worlds (all of the amenities of a first class timeshare resort and none of the hassle.) We booked through Abbey Vacation Rentals, which can be found by a search for there name. They were very pleasant, experienced, and professional. You could also find them at konarentals.net. We highly recommended them. I hope you enjoy your trip as much as we did. We can wait to get back.

I believe the units at the Kona Coast Resort Phase II are the largest and most luxuriously appointed in the Hawaiian Islands--they are 5 star all the way (note that these are different from the units in both Phase I and in Keauhou Gardens, which are part of the same complex). We've explored timeshares on all of the Hawaiian Islands and keep coming back to Kona Coast Resort Phase II because they surpass all others (we've purchased two units here as a result). Remodeled in 2006-2007, they're even better now. And, as 2 bedroom units go, they are huge (over 1,500 square feet). The 2-bedroom end units on the 2nd floor in buildings 23, 24 and 25 are the best. Like other end units in Phase II, they have vaulted cathedral ceilings and wonderful open floor plans, but these buildings directly front the golf course and look right out to the beautiful blue sea. You can watch the golfers play and the surf crash all at the same time. This resort has all amenities (including in-unit laundry), an on-site restaurant and is a short walk from a multi-screen movie theater, a half-dozen restaurants and shopping. The complex is about 7 miles south of Kailua Kona town so it's much quieter. The grounds are lush and well-maintained. -Review courtesy of Lorri (stayed during Nov, 2007) |
