Some timeshare owners who flew cross country or drove for days have arrived at their St. Pete Beach timeshares to find they had no place to stay. The timeshare property, Camelot by the Sea, has been sold and the company that now owns the property says the 1,024 timeshare owners can no longer stay there. The building is locked and no trespassing signs are posted. "I arrived today," said Marilyn Miracle, who drove from Kentucky to use her timeshare week. "The place is locked up and they tell me I have no place to stay." Miracle said she's owned the timeshare since the 1980s. The company that took over Camelot by the Sea said they bought it during an auction on the courthouse steps last week. The building was for sale because $188,000 in back taxes had not been paid. "Property will be sold at auction if taxes aren't paid," said Tara Mitchell from Luke Investments."We paid $2 million for the property." The county appraiser's web site says the property is worth $3 million. The president of Camelot by the Sea's board of directors said he had no idea the taxes were not being paid. "If I had any inkling at all I would have taken care of it immediatly," said board president John Predmore. St. Pete Beach police say they're conducting an investigation into what happened to the unpaid tax money. Meanwhile, Luke Investments said although they sympathized with the
timeshare owners, they must find another place to stay. "I felt really bad," Mitchell said. "We even thought about letting them stay, but it's not in our best legal interest." Luke Investments said they plan to turn the property into a resort-style hotel. There will be no timeshares.

My husband and I just returned from Camelot by the Sea or, should I say we should have. After sending almost $2000 in March for accomodations we should have had April 7 - 21 2007, we were out of luck for a room and our money.
