We are vacation owners who have been coming to this resort every March since 1999. It has grown nicely in the last few years, new pools, buildings, restaurants, etc. The main reason we love this resort is every year we see the same faces at the front desk, at the restaurants, cleaning our rooms and even poolside! You know the staff likes their jobs and are happy when they are still here after all these years. They are friendly and kind. The food is good and there is always "Happy Hour" somewhere in the resort. The resort has great views of the ocean, nice hot tubs and nice pools.
The ocean is rarely swimmable when we are there, but the beach is beautiful and we prefer the pool anyway. We have seen whales every year at this time so bring your binoculars while sitting out by the pool or beach.
The rooms are nicely decorated, very clean and beds are very comfy. We have a one bedroom Master that has 2 queen beds and a 3/4 bath. Then there is a living room with a pullout sofa and a 3/4 bath. There is a nice kitchenette with a micorwave and a stovetop. The unit is furnished with all the pots,pans, glassware and utensils you will need. There is a dorm size refrigerator that is perfect for us for the week. We usually go to Costco the 1st day we get there and get the beer and water.
The best thing about the new unit we stayed in 2005 is the large oversized patio with the jacuzzi tub on it. We brought our 6 yr old with us and he had his baths out there and could play with his toys out there. We also had coffee and bagels every morning on the patio. The view was okay, of the golf course, but we were okay with the exchange for the comfort of our family. We didn't spend much time in the room anyway.
I am up very early and all the staff is already up washing, waxing, mopping and hosing things off already. The grounds are kept clean and trimmed and there are beautiful tropical plants everywhere. Lots of pretty flowers.
We have eaten at all of the restaurants. I was not as impressed with Pithayas even though it has great reviews. The steak house at the other end is much better. Coming from a fine dining background in Phoenix, AZ, there are far better restaurants outside of the resort. Girasoles is great for breakfast with a fabulous rooftop view of the ocean and well priced. The poolside food is average. We go to the sports bar at night a lot becasue when we go its Final Four time. The food is pretty good and of course, it's Happy hour there.
Yes there have been some issues and minor inconviences over the years but the staff has handled our compaints well so they get a 5 for Mexico. -Review courtesy of Laura (stayed during Mar, 2005) |
