The resort is located where the Pacific Ocean, Banderas Bay and the Ameca river meet. The Bay is ringed by the Sierra Madre Mountains with peaks over 8,000 ft. There are a number of ways of exploring the foothills around Nuevo Vallarta and Puerto Vallarta. Many of the local ranches offer trail rides that often include lunch and occasionally a dip in a local river or water fall. For the more athletic there are mountain bike trails geared to your level of expertise. Or consider a Jeep safari, or an extended dune-buggy for the really rugged trails.
