General Description:
Ocean view on the quiet end of beautiful Cabbage Beach. Beachfront property, relax on the beach or by either pool. The on-property mini-mart is small but well stocked, the pool side bar and grill is great, and you can walk to Hurricane Hole and Atlantis for shopping and restaurants. A good place for families, the desk can arrange for babysitting and usually has games to borrow. The exercise equipment is very basic, but we prefer to exercise by walking in the soft clean sand along the crystal clear ocean.
We plan to rent out our Oceanview unit and stay in our Oceanfront unit, but would consider an offer on the oceanfront unit. Both are two bed/ two bath full kitchen.
The resorts official website is www.mypibc.com but it's a bit lame, looking on other travel sites will give you better photos.
Resort Description:
The resort is an RCI Gold Crown. It has low stucco buildings, well maintained gardens, and plenty of palm trees. If you turn left on the beach you go past The One and Only Ocean Club (nice eating options) and on up to Atlantis. Turn right and walk to the lagoon, where you can swim without waves if you want and don't need snorkeling equipment to see the little fish. Our beach is uncrowded with plenty of lounge chairs. The 'front pool' is heated, with a swim up or walk up bar and a grill that has items like conch chowder, burgers, fries, and tuna. Mid day there is usually music playing here. The 'back pool' -which was heated last year too - is quieter and gets the sun a little later in the day. Between the two is the archway where breakfast (not included, but quite reasonably priced) is offered; this area also has free WIFI, if you can't leave your office behind. Because they are islands, food prices are higher than mainland U.S.
Unit Description:
All the Units have balconies. For Unit 24 the balcony has a palm shaded ocean view. I love eating breakfast there. The room is well situated over the courtyard and back enough from the front pool so the music or the kids playing won't disturb your quiet time reading. I understand there may be two televisions in the units this year, but one has always been plenty for us because we prefer to be outside, they get Miami, Nassau (if you don't go to Junkanoo, you can see it on tv) and premium channels.
One room has a king sized bed, and the other twin beds. The couches pull out as a double bed, but with our family of five, the fifth has often decided the couch is more comfortable than the pull out (the couch is quite large and can accommodate two that way as well). If you leave the curtains open in the master bedroom, you can wake up to the view of the ocean.
Nearby Attractions:
The biggest attraction this week is Junkanoo on both Boxing Day and New Year's Day. Nassau has the Straw Market (and there's a smaller version on Paradise Island), Ardastra Gardens with 'marching' flamingos and other flora and fauna, fishing trips, scuba expeditions, and even horseback riding outings can be arranged. There are swim with the dolphins and submarine options. I believe there is a rum factory tour. You can walk to the golf course where the likes of Oprah and Tiger Woods have homes, but I don't know if you can afford the greens fees. You can walk to the Atlantis Casino along a well lit paved sidewalk, or take a cab to the casino at Cable Beach.
Nearby Restaurants:
On the grounds: Poolside snack bar & breakfast
Nearby: Columbus Tavern at PIHC some years great, some recent years not so good
The One and Only Ocean Club has three options, lunch or brunch above their stairs to the beach, an ocean side restaurant for dinner and dinner in the courtyard of the main building. Pricey but worth it.
Hurricane Hole: there are inexpensive places and some nicer ones here.
Comfort Suites: I think they do lunch & have heard it's a good value
Atlantis: many options both in the big building and along the festive outdoor marketplace
Across the bridge: with older kids you can actually walk to Outback and some others. Conch Fritters opposite the British Colonial is fun, Matisse was good, Luciano's for Italian food, and the fish fry is an experience.
