General Description:
This is a Worldmark/Trendwest points-based timeshare. Sorry for not being specific in the form, but everything simply depends on which resort you want to reserve. Certain resorts are considered 'more desirable,' so they are charged more points (i.e. Hawaii, Fiji).
Most of the resorts I've stayed at are like condos. You have your bathroom, living room, kitchen, and bedroom(s), refrigerator, washer/dryer, oven, microwave, pots/pan, cups, plates, utensils, towels, sheets, BBQ grill in the patio, and some locations have a jacuzzi in the back! It really is better than a hotel. It's been great because you're not forced to eat out all the time. We do a lot of our own cooking and save a lot of money that way!
The reason I'm renting out my timeshare is because I'm getting my graduate degree and I don't have the time to take advantage of all my points. Plus, renting it out will help me pay for my overpriced books.
---
Let's talk about the point system.
Trendwest prices their resorts into color-codes depending on the desirability of the season:
Blue - Out of season
White - Close to season
Red - In season
Typically, if you want to stay at a resort while it's in season (red), it will sometimes be double the amount of points than if it were out of season (blue). For example,
Lake Tahoe, NV for a 3 bedroom unit that sleep 8 - one week stay:
Blue - 6,000 points
White - 8,000 points
Red - 12,000 points
Then we have certain locations like Hawaii, Fiji, Las Vegas, Orlando, San Francisco that are considered 'red' year round.
---
I currently get 20,000 points a year, I have 25,600 points currently, and I can borrow into next year for a grand total of 45,600 points. That's enough for a huge extended family vacation. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about certain resorts and how many points they require. You may also contact me for any additional questions you might have. Happy vacationing!
