General Description:
On the Gulf Beach, on beautiful Marco Island, Florida; lots of shells and great shallow swimming area (only gets one foot deeper per mile out). Beach front buildings are limited to 5 stories (no huge shadows on the beach) and the beach vegetation is protected; a boardwalk takes you from poolside to the beach sand so you don't have to walk through the sea grass, sand spurs and so forth.
Very few hotels and condos on the beach and all the beach in front of the premises is private; there is a designated public beach for Marco residents.
Units have great views of the Gulf, pool and beach. Glass doors open onto your own balcony. Resort offers children's activities and crafts, has highchairs, cribs, play pins, and the like available for the under 3 crowd.
We have owned here for 24 years; vacationed here when my son, who is now 20, was barely walking. We have traded this week for 5 star accommodations for snow skiing in Virginia, touring New York City, and scuba diving in Cayman Islands, just to name a few. In fact, the only reason we are offering this week for sale is that we recently purchased 2 weeks in the Cayman Islands.
Need more info and photos? Go to Eagle's Nest Marco Island website and see the red tile roof and lovely landscaped pool area.
If you are familiar with South Florida, this resort is one of the original Mariner Resorts of Marco Island, Sanibel and Captiva Islands; the latter two islands are offshore at Ft. Myers, Florida. Marco is located in 'South' Florida, so it has tropical temperatures pretty much year around.
Resort Description:
5 star resort on Marco Island, Florida, the tropical area of Florida where temperatures are summer-like most year around. The beach is beautiful white sand, shallow, light waves, great for swimming for young and old alike. Gulf area beaches are known for their shells; many shells wash up on the beach on the premises, but for those who really want a treat there are excursions offered to prime 'shelling' locales. Hermit crabs who've taken over vacated shells are a favorite find for youngsters. The view of the ocean is stunning from the balconies of the apartments; red tile roof and lots of terracotta inside and out make the resort truly fit for the South Florida, Tropic Island landscape.
Unit Description:
Two bedroom unit; master has private bath. Second bedroom and bath; all beautifully decorated. Living area has sleeper sofa, allowing the unit to sleep six comfortably. Fully furnished kitchen; micro, dishwasher, disposal. If you call ahead, guest services will have certain items stocked in your fridge when you arrive. Walking to many shops and nearby restaurants is easy and there is always the Marco Island Trolley that circles the island and stops at the resort every 15-30 minutes or so, making stops all over the island and giving you historical and local information as you go.
Nearby Attractions:
History buffs or those with youngsters should not miss the opportunity to travel 45 mins. or so to Ft. Myers to tour the homes of Edison and Ford (same tour, they lived next door). We have visited three times now and have had different tour guides with various different interests and stories regarding Mr. Edison and his work, the botanical collection from around the world that he collected there, his bamboo reinforced pool, and of course his connection to Mr. Ford, via the rubber for his automobile tires!
Sarasota, Fla., the home of the Ringling Brothers, Barnham and Bailey Circus is also a good day trip. Shows there and the museum are great, especially the 'Clown College' where performers are in training.
Nearby Restaurants:
Restaurants of all descriptions abound; there are several just across the street and down the beach at the Marco Hilton (great Sunday brunch). Again, the Marco Trolley will get you anywhere you want to go without a car or Taxi. Renting scooters or bicycles can be a good way to see many of the shops and travel to the Publix (grocery) just down the street.
