Resort Description:
While a guest at Vacation Village in the Berkshires, you can soak in the charm of a bygone era while visiting the grounds and stately homes of legendary American figures. Appreciate the arts the area affords; music, dance, theater and more. Virtually every corner of the Berkshires belies culturally rich history that is sure to leave your senses reeling! The scenic hills, trails, lakes and rivers of the Berkshires beckon those who enjoy an active lifestyle. Biking and hiking, running and riding and skiing and skating are just a sampling of the exhilarating sporting activities that this region offers its visitors year round. There's also tennis, swimming, fishing and even a world-class spa!
The Berkshires offer those who like to shop a veritable feast of shopping experiences. From the charming stores of its small towns to traditional malls and outlet centers, you'll find just what you're looking for and more! And dining is an experience unto its own in the Berkshires, which even boasts an annual festival to celebrate the foods that grace its much-heralded menus. Some of the most enjoyable culinary treats can be found in the charming cottages, restored mills, hospitable inns and antiquated farmhouses that dot this legendary territory.
** We particularly like the amenities at Jiminy Peak (they have an alpine slide and coaster in the summer), and the local bike trail is beautiful. Highly recommend the children's museum and Norman Rockwell museum.
Unit Description:
The unit was built in 2008 and is brand new. I don't think it is the same unit each time. The furniture is dark wood and I believe sage greens and creams were used a lot. The resort is very clean - we were appreciative of that in the pool area. Management was very helpful and accommodating and the resort was itself very quiet - the walls were nice and thick. The unit has 2 sides: an A side and a B side. The A side has a king-sized bed, bathroom with jacuzzi, fully applianced kitchen and pullout couch in the living room. There is also a fireplace in the living room and a beautiful dining room adjacent to the living area. There are two flat screen TVs in the unit. The B side is separated by a hallway and a door, and can be rented out during the season. The B side is the same as the A except for a queen bed, and countertop range instead of a full oven.
Nearby Attractions:
Jiminy Peak is across the street : skiing, alpine slides, etc. We enjoyed coming here for some outdoor fun. There are also museums galore, a great bike trail and some very good restaurants. The mall is about 15 minutes away and the entrance to the bike trail is behind it (not too far).
The Berkshires is a very 'artsy' community and there is never a void of exhibits, theater and crafts. Practically any venue you can think of is there - shopping, dining, theater, concerts, etc. The Shaker Village is also nearby.
The week we own sometimes falls on Tanglewood opening week, and GOOD LUCK finding any hotels during this time. I believe Tanglewood is about a half hour from the resort.
Nearby Restaurants:
Excellent Italian and French restaurants that we visited, but mostly we cooked our own dinners in the kitchen!
