General Description:
Morritts Tortuga Resort is located on the East End of Grand Cayman Island, just a few minutes away from Rum Point.
Very quiet & peaceful. Beautiful beach, great snorkling, diving!
The world's largest Wave & Skate park,' The Black Pearl' , is about 11 miles from Tortuga Resort. It has a web site.
Rum Point is a must! Beautiful beach, lots of lounge chairs, bar & grill, plenty of seating in & outdoors - best mahi-mahi
fish & chips I've ever had.
Resort Description:
The resort has two swimming pools with swim-up bars, a 'quiet pool' to just relax around, a bar/snack bar over the water called Mimi's Bar & Grill, and a fourth bar inside the main building next to David's Restaurant.
A hot tub at each main pools for guest use, plus a small kiddie's pool.
Activities almost every night, dancing, bands, games, etc.
Unit Description:
This unit is a poolside 2BR unit with approx 1200 sq. ft. There are two BRs and two baths with showers/tubs upstairs, a queensize sleep sofa with memory foam mattress, & full bath downstairs, along with a large dining area, and another sofa and chairs in the living/den area. Each floor has a balcony.
Thes units are located only a very short walk to the beautiful beach, a minute if you're slow, 15 secs if you're quick.
They just started remodeling these units when I was there in August 2008 - new furniture, etc., so they should be close to finishing the rest of them, if not completed. I liked the changes they made.
This is for 2010. Primary Check-in days are Fri, Sat, & Sun.
Nearby Attractions:
Rum Point and Kaibo are two popular beach, snorkeling, & dining spots on the East & North End. You'll need a vehicle,
as they are about 15 to 20 minutes from Tortuga.
Rum Point is a must! Not only is it a beautiful beach, it has a bar/restaurant that has the best fish & chips I've ever had.
Also, if you don't plan on going back, you need to do Stingray City from Rum Point on Red Sail Sports. Glass-bottomed boat ride from Rum Point to Stingray City where you can interact with these magnificent creatures with no fear of being hurt.
Then Cap'n Jimmy will take you to a reef for about 45 minutes of snorkeling. I've done it four times, & it doesn't get old!!
Nearby Restaurants:
2 rest's and snackbar on resort. Two add'l restaurants & bars, plus a liquor store, just next door, about a 2 or 3 minute walk from resort. If you don't have a car, Foster's grocery store is about a 5 minute, 1/8 mile walk, but you can take carts from store & leave them at resort.
If you have a car, try Over The Edge, my favorite restaurant on GCM.It's about a 10 min drive from Tortuga.
If you don't have transportation, make reservations with Portofinos restaurant, and they will pick you up at the resort & take you back after your dinner, no xtra charge. Only about 2 miles from Tortuga.
There is a restaurant in town called Decker's that has an All-You-Can-Eat Lobster night once a week for about $50us., plus other great entrees. We do this every time we go - you'll be pleased!
