Timeshare Owner's Description:

Club Mahindra is undoubtedly the prestigious time share in India. Its been awarded a gold crown by RCI for its Munnar, Goa and other resorts. The resort's location is beautiful and is in midst of tea plantations overlooking the lake!

Munnar :

You could call it the jewel in the crown of God’s own country. You could call it the union of three mountain streams - Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala – that gave it its name Munnar (meaning the confluence of three rivers). Or you could be at a complete loss for words as you stare at the spectacular view ahead of you, one that holds the dreamy hills, acres of tea estates, untouched valleys, exotic flowers and plants, thickset woods, fresh, clean air and above all, total peace of mind.

Journey to Idukki district in the eastern part of Kerala, along the Western Ghats, to a height of around 7000 feet above sea level and you reach the place that was once the most sought-after summer destination of the British Raj and today, continues to remain so for thousands of people from across the country. As you climb even higher, you can reach Anamudi, the highest peak in South India (at over 8800 feet above sea level) that offers the perfect trekking opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts.

One has reason to believe that nature has been partial to Munnar, for besides its breathtaking views and its picture-perfect scenery, it also boasts of the special neelakurinji flower that blossoms just once in twelve years and turns the whole hillside area into a carpet of blue.

Add to these riches the excitement of outdoor sports, the comforts of a tourist destination and the quaintness of a little town atop the hills and you’ll know what Munnar is considered by many as a perfect holiday destination.

Places to see :
Where the green of the sprawling tea estates contrasts with the brown trees. Where the silvery veins of water trickling down hillsides adds to the golden hues of the twilight skies. Where the bluish hues of the forests sets off the bluish-purple of the rare neelakurinji. Nature has chosen to spread its palette of colours across Munnar. Just go around and see how many you can spot!

Mattupetty
Located 13 kms from Munnar at a height of 1700 metres above sea level, Mattupetty showcases a dairy farm that specializes in over 100 varieties of high yielding cattle. How can a tourist spot be complete without a lake or a dam? And Mattupetty has both, in close proximity to the farm. The spot also abuts team plantations and the Kundala Lake. Besides walking around and having a picnic, you can also sail around on speed launches or low-speed motor boats that you can hire.

Pothamedu
Want to get a vantage view of the tea, coffee and cardamom plantations in Munnar? Travel 6 kms from Munnar until you reach Pothamedu. And for your efforts, you will also be rewarded with an excellent view of the mysterious hills, green ‘carpeted’ mountains and other breathtaking sights. Done with
the looking? Now you could focus your energies on long walks or treks, perhaps!

Devikulam
A lake with mineral water and ample opportunities for trout fishing? You must be at the Sita Devi Lake, 7 kms from Munnar, in a place called Devikulam. Besides the lake, nature is also at its greenest best, with lush lawns, rare species of flowers, plants and other forms of life.

Pallivasal
What happens when beauty and utility come together? Simple, you find yourself in a place like Pallivasal, 8 kms from Munnar, that is not only the venue of the first Hydro Electric Project in Kerala, but also a spot that is nature’s work of art.

Attukal
Travel 9 kms from Munnar – better still, trek it until you reach Attukal. The feeling can be best described as that of finding a pot at the end of the rainbow as you stand spellbound, gazing at the waterfalls and the hills that form the backdrop.

Nyayamakad
If you’re the one for waterfalls, head straight for Nyayamakad, 10 kms from Munnar. Where there’s a waterfall, can a picnic spot be far behind? Treks, picnics or a peaceful unwinding session – you’re in the right place for all these and more.

Chithirapuram
Be transported into a world from the past – that’s how you will feel when you enter Chithirapuram, 10 kms from Munnar. Quaint little cottages, old age mansions and playgrounds, and mesmerizing tea plantations greet you as you visit this place. Chithirapuram is also home to the Pallivasal Hydel Power Project.

Lock Heart Gap
For those who have set their heart on a journey of adventure and trekking, Lock Heart Gap is the place. Located 13 kms from Munnar, the place is equally well-known for its beauty – take a look at the views around and you’ll know why.

Rajamala
Imagine visiting a place where half the world’s population of a particular life form exists! That’s Rajamala, located 15 kms from Munnar, where the Nilgiri Tahr lives at almost 2700 m above sea level. The Tahr is a rare species of mountain goat that is fast reaching extinction. Make sure you are one of the few in your peer group to set sight on this exotic breed!

Eravikulam National Park
Close to South India’s highest peak – Anamudi – 15 kms from Munnar, is located a park that was declared a sanctuary in 1975 and as a national park in 1978. Almost 100 sq. kms in area, Eravikulam National Park is located in the Devikulam Taluk. Home to the evergreen forests, the smooth grasslands and several rare species of plants and animals, the park also offers facilities for trekking and adventure tourism.

Power House Waterfalls
Take a break before you visit the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary at Thekkady. Stop by to enjoy the cascading waterfalls and the mountain ranges at Power House Waterfalls, at a distance of 18 kms from Munnar.

Kundala
Who would have thought that an artificial dam, a golf course and a waterfall would co-exist 1600 metres above sea level? You can spot all three at Kundala, 20 kms from Munnar. So come on over – this is an unwind experience, three times better!

Christ Church
Christ Church is a century-old church built with solid stone, and fitted with stained glass windows and brass plaques. Once you are in, shut yourself away from the rest of the world and seek complete peace of mind as you kneel to pray or meditate.

Anayirangal
Lush green tea plantations wherever you look. Thickset forests bordering the area. And the Anayirangal dam right in the middle. If you were looking for a picnic spot out of the ordinary, welcome to Anayirangal, 22 kms from Munnar.

Marayoor
Lose yourself to the fragrance of sandalwood at Marayoor, 40 kms from Munnar. A forest of sandalwood trees, mysterious caves, murals and relics add to the aura of the spot. Of course, kids have other diversions, like a large children’s park. Other places in the vicinity are the Thoovanam waterfalls and the Rajiv Gandhi National Park.

Top Station
Top Station, located 32 kms from Munnar, has several records to its credit – besides being the highest point on the Munnar-Kodaikanal road, it is also home to the rare Neelakurunji flower. At a majestic height of 1700 metres above sea level, it offers a great view of the places nearby.

Echo Point
Doesn’t every hill station in the south have a famous echo point? Munnar is no different. Come on over to Echo Point, 15 kms from Munnar, and conduct a conversation with your own echo!

Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary
You have seen the best of nature at Munnar. Now get ready to see the best of wildlife as well, at the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, 60 kms from Munnar. Spread across over 90 sq. kms, the Sanctuary has multiple access points. It also allows for an exciting trek that adds to the fun!

Anamudi
Enough has been said about Anamudi being the highest peak (2695 m) in the southern part of India. But what is news is that the hills display several exotic species of life forms – plants and animals, like the Atlas moth, the largest of its kind in the world, the Nilgiri Langur, the lion-tailed macaque, leopards, tigers, etc. So while you go about animal gazing, you could also limber up with a trek and see how high you can go!

Tata Tea Museum
Want to know how tea is made? Interested in little tidbits on the colonial lifestyles up in the hills a century back? The Tata Tea Museum is just the place for you! Located 2 kms from the Munnar Centre on the Nallathany Road, the museum displays an antique collection of objects from the bygone colonial era. And yes, you can also gather assorted information on tea manufacturing, machinery, tea processing and tea tasting.

Blossom International Park
An adventure track, a 1000-foot long fountain, roller skates facilities, an underground meditation centre and a beautiful garden – what more could you ask from a park!
