San Luis Bay Inn Scheduled Activities & Events

All of the activities at the San Luis Bay Inn are designed to help make our guests' stay more enjoyable.

The activities and events listed are optional activities and events that may occur throughout the year. The Activities Schedule is developed with the guests, season and number of available personnel in mind.

Reservations are on a first come, first served basis. If the van is full, guests are welcome to follow the van and participate with the tour on site.

Cancellations are requested at least 12 hours prior to departure time.

All trips requiring the use of the van must have a minimum of four participants.

All trips and tours in the SLBI van must have a minimum number of participants. Seats for transportation are limited to seven.

Guests will be asked to sign a liability release for any activities that require a trip in the van. Only one family member must sign the release.

All riders must fasten their seat belt prior to the beginning of the trip.

Children must be restrained in a child safety seat in accordance to California Law. The parent or guardian must install the safety seat prior to departure.

Local vendors are invited to the Inn to offer guests more opportunities to enjoy the area.

Most of the activities and events are complimentary. However, occasionally there will be a cost involved. All event and activity costs are listed in the weekly brochure.

All questions, concerns and compliments should be directed to the Activities' Coordinator and/or the General Manager.

Alapay Wine Tasting 101 Class

Avila's finest winery will teach you what you want to know to enjoy California's tastiest industry. Scott and Rebecca Remmenga talk participants through the subtleties that make wine fine. Don't miss this once a week educational opportunity. Wine will be available for purchase after the class.

Apples are in season and we are enjoying them while the getting is good. Try the local varieties provided by Gopher Glen Apple Farm with cheese and crackers.

Bird Watchers Walk

No matter what time of the year, the Central Coast is prime bird watching country. Many of the SLBI guest enjoy locating and identifying the different bird species. Heron, egrets, hawks and many others of our flying friends are visible on the SLBI property. Join us for a jaunt about. Weather permitting.

Bob Jones Trail Walk

Bob Jones dedicated himself to preserving Avila Beach and San Luis Creek. It was his vision to have a trail that connect SLO with Avila. The Bob Jones Trail Walk is an easy walk. Walkers will clock approximately four miles. Weather permitting.

Bonfire On The Beach

June through mid-September, San Luis Bay Inn hosts an event that warms the heart. Sit on the beach beside a blazing bonfire and roast marshmallows. SLBI provides all the ingredients for its traditional s'mores. You roast.

Soy Candle Making Workshop
Learn the great health benefits of soy candles while having FUN making your own FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. All materials will be provided. Cost $15 Children 8 years and up are welcome. Activity will be held in the Seaview Lounge.

We'll make the chili and provide you with a choice of toppings that will make this bowl of beans memorable. You bring whatever else you'd like to fill out your early winter supper. Cornbread and crackers will also be available.

The Grapeline Wine Tour Country Shuttle
Cost: $58 per person
Wine Tour/Picnic Lunch. Cost $58.00 Reservation forms must be completed at the Front Desk. Visit four of the areas local wineries aboard The Grapeline’s deluxe shuttle coach including: Laetitia Vineyard, Saucelito and Ortman Family Vineyards, Kelsey Vineyards, and Alapay Cellars. A Gourmet picnic lunch will be set up at one of the tasting rooms with linens & flatware and will include guest’s preselected choice of five different sandwiches and three different salads, fresh vegetable tray/ranch dip, cheese & crackers, crisp apple, and homemade cookie. In addition, there will be a wine tasting 101 lesson at the first winery stop.

Kids Club

Kids Club is held weekly during the Summer months. Kids between the ages of 5 to 11 meet in the Seaview Lounge twice a week to cook (making Sea Slugs and Sand) paint or participate in other fun activities. Snacks are provided. Please note that the Activities' staff will not be responsible for unattended minor children. Your child's safety is our main concern. Please be punctual when picking up your little clubber.

Mini-Apple Tour

This tour is not quite as dramatic as the fall colors of the east coast, but almost. Let us take you to see famous See Canyon and the apple farms. Taste the varieties and purchase a pound or two to take home.

Mission Tour

The ambiance of the California missions began on the central coast. Join us for a full afternoon of touring along the Central Coast's mission trail.

Monarch Butterfly Tour

San Luis Bay Inn Amenities

Avila Day Spa
Avila Day Spa is a full service salon on site offering the very best in beauty, health and relaxation. Call 595-2333 ext. 509 for an appointment. The Spa is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evenings by appointment.

Work Out Room
Weights, a nautilus machine, exercise bike and treadmill are available to all guests over the age of 14. Children under 14 years of age must be supervised at all times in the Work Out Room.

Pool
The pool is open all year round between the hours of 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. No lifeguard is on duty. Twice daily maintenance at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. ensure clean water. Children under the age of 14 must be supervised at all times in the pool area. Pool toys and flotation devices are available at the Front Desk.

Kiddie Pool
The kiddie pool, although separate from the adult pool maintains the same schedule and rules as the pool.

Spa
A temperature of 101 degrees is maintained in the spa for year round enjoyment. Guests are cautioned to be aware of their own limitations when enjoying the spa.

Game Room
The Game Room is located in the pool area. The room has a variety of electronic games, a pool table and a ping pong table. A foos ball table adds to everyone's fun.

Movie Rental
A wide selection of movies are available at the kiosk by the Front Desk. Cost of a movie is $3.22 a day.

Tennis, Basketball and Volleyball Courts
Courts are located below the resort next to the golf course. Equipment for court use may be checked out at the Front Desk.

Board Games and Puzzles
The large Armour next to the Front Desk has a wide variety of games and puzzles for guest checkout.

Barbecue Grills
Barbecue grills are located on the patio and terrace areas for guest use. Some barbecue utensils are available at the Front Desk.
