Located directly on the beach of beautiful Simpson Bay, the Flamingo Beach Resort overlooks the crystalline splendor of the Caribbean in St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles. Divided between the Netherlands and France, the island is the smallest territory in the world shared by two sovereign states. The resort is less than eight kilometers (five miles) from both the Dutch and French capitals, Phillipsburg and Marigot respectively. Phillipsburg curves along the Great Bay and features plenty of duty-free shopping, casinos and restaurants. Marigot is reminiscent of a quaint French village and boasts some of the best cuisine in the Caribbean with somewhat of a quieter setting than Phillipsburg.
Features. The resort features an outdoor pool flanked by a sun deck with lounge chairs. Guests of the resort receive complimentary use of snorkeling equipment, and there are independent operators on the beach offering scuba diving, water skiing and sailing. The front desk staff is on hand 24 hours a day to assist with tours, dry cleaning and business services. Guests enjoy complimentary access to a nearby fitness center, and for a fee, the resort offers seaside massages and a beauty cabana. Barbeque grills are located on site. Coin-operated laundry facilities are available. Guestrooms. Studios and one-bedroom accommodations feature furnished balconies and kitchens with ranges, refrigerators and microwave ovens. The Loterie Farm, 12.5 kilometers (eight miles) from the resort, features the FlyZone, where visitors wear harnesses attached to steel cables to glide through the forest canopy and negotiate obstacles.
