General Description:
Hotel De La Monnaie is a four star hotel and sits on the edge of the French Quarter in New Orleans. Across the street is the old U.S. Mint and the French Market where venders set up each day to sell their unique items. The French Market is one of my favorite places to walk through and find lots of bargains. Hotel De La Monnaie received 4.5 out of 5 stars from user reviews on Yahoo Travel.
Most places are within walking distance. The French Quarter is truly an intriquiging experience. Visit the blues and jazz clubs and watch the street entertainers. Get your fortune told, visit the voodoo shops, ride the trolley, take a horse and buggy ride through the quarter and learn some of the history or take a ferry ride across the river. Night life is hopping way into the morning. The French Cajun quisine found throughout the French Quarter is to die for. There is anything available from boiled crawfish, steamed crabs, gumbo, po-boys, those wonderful beniets and even plenty of traditional foods. If you prefer, there is a small grocery store about 2 blocks down. You can cook a quick meal in your suite. The New Orleans zoo is a must to visit. It is not within walking distance but it's a top rate zoo. If you want to try your luck, the Harrah's Casino is within walking distance. It sits along the river and beside the riverwalk mall. Just down from the Riverwalk mall is where the cruise ships come and go. The riverwalk makes for a nice evening stroll when you're ready to wind down from a day of site seeing. Take a break on one of the benches and watch the barges and cruise ships go by. You must visit one of the daquiri spots for a frozen daquiri. White Russian is my favorite..mmmm. You haven't had the New Orleans experience until you've had a Pat O'Briens hurricane!
This suite is deeded. We currently own week 30, unit 304. There is one bedroom, kitchenette, living room with hide-a-bed for guests, whirlpool tub, and most of the immenities you will ever need. The decor is French Victorian with deep rich colors. The rooms surround an internal courtyard. It's open ceiling allows the growth of palm trees and the fountain serves as a wading pool. It is my favorite place to sit in the morning with my coffee. The view is nice from your room too. Open your blinds and you have a view of the couryard or step out onto the balcony off of the bedroom. There is a hotel terrace that overlooks Esplanade St. and gives a clear view of the U.S. Mint and the activities on the street below.
Hopefully, you can tell by my description that we truly love visiting New Orleans French Quarter but things have changed in our lives and we no longer have the time to visit like we used to. Here is the link to Hotel De La Monnaie's website. Hopefully, it can give you more information about the area and hotel that I have probably missed. Feel free to contact me for any information.
