NOTE: This is for Week 51 in 2019 !!!
We have 8 weeks of timeshares with Hawaiian Sun Holidays at the Waikiki Banyan complex in Waikiki ? Honolulu Hawaii. It is not a flashy complex, but it is very decent with strong rental demand. As we don?t need all (8) weeks at least for now, we are offering some of them for rent at a decent price. The complex consists of two twin 37-38 Story towers with 876 rooms. The complex is jointly owned by a number of timeshare companies like Hawaiian Sun Holidays.
We chose Waikiki obviously for its weather, its health care access, the language, the culture, the people and just as importantly.. being and feeling safe while on vacation... (we?re so disappointed in what is going on in Mexico, so we chose Hawaii as our safe, go to destination of choice!)? The basic timeshare details are as follows:
Check-ins are Saturdays. We have learned that Hawaii doesn?t have much if any low demand weeks like other warm climate areas.. Apparently lots of Americans (and others) like to go to Hawaii in the summer to escape the really hot weather in places like Florida, California, Texas, Nevada, Arizona, Thailand, Australia etc.. So even summer months are very busy!
If you were to look on various websites: booking.com, vrbo, homeaway, air bnb, expedia, trivago etc.. you will find the room prices are all over the map, but most will run between $1400-$1800 USD for a week (plus additional fees and taxes). Bookings can be changed to other desired dates, but are subject to availability. Our complex is popular due to the location, amenities and overall value. Generally, bookings for higher demand times need to be booked 12-24 months ahead.
We offer our weeks regardless of time of year for $900 USD/wk plus the current room tax of appx $4/day. If a different length of stay is needed, extra nights may be available but subject to availability for a slightly higher rate plus additional taxes. This allows some flexibility, but it is difficult to book those extra days during the highest/busiest seasons.
Our pricing will show as very good compared to the market. With our rental there are NO additional fees for cleaning, taxes (other than as noted), management fees, service fees, daily resort fees, TAT/GET taxes etc.. (some sites have all sorts of fees and taxes in addition to the advertised rates.. so beware as that can easily add $300-$400-$500+ USD to the total cost). They might advertise $129/nt but the fees will make it much more.. but you can do your own determination!
The Complex: Our timeshare is part of the Waikiki Banyan that is appx 1 ? blocks from the world-famous Waikiki Beach and about the same distance to the canal. We are located in the quieter, south end of Waikiki. It?s within walking distance to most everything. (The famous Waikiki beach, Kapiolani Park, the zoo, aquarium, International Market, restaurants, shopping) Due to the high rise complexes throughout Waikiki, there really aren?t many rooms that are ocean view (partial ocean view at best with some units). However, the city/mountain views and the Diamond Head views are quite stunning. There is a recreation/entertainment deck that sits atop the parking garage.. the area includes: swimming pool, hot tubs, tennis court, basketball hoop, putting green, nice kids play center, and coin operated bbq pits (this rec area is considered the largest of any of the complexes in Waikiki). Parking is free with rental (and that can be worth $75-$100+/wk in other hotels). Snack shop on site.. It is also worth noting that on Oahu most vacationers use the efficient local bus system if you want to save on the cost of a car rental. However if you are looking to check out the island more fully, then a rental car (with the included free parking) is going to be a good option too. The overall rating of the complex is likely a 3.5* or possibly a 4.0* with a few of the sites.. the actual reviews for the Hawaiian Sun timeshares, show as very good.. (Hawaiian Sun Holidays is one of the better t/s operators in the building). Each association is responsible for their own cleaning standards, quality, level of maintenance, furniture (eg Murphy Beds compared to pull out couches.. timing of updates etc). The value is not the same for all of the operators!
The Units: They are all one bedroom units (with sliding privacy doors for the bedroom) and a full kitchen, 1 bath. Laundry on each floor. Each unit is appx 533 SF plus a 67 SF lainai/balcony. The units are not huge but are more comfortable than a regular hotel room, some updating done, and you can do as little or as much cooking as you desire (great BBQ area too). Each room has a king bed, a pull down queen murphy bed (more comfortable than a typical pull out couch) and a regular couch. They say the units sleep (4) but they may accept an additional child..(but you would have to supply your own bedding/towels for the 5th person). Free Wifi & one free parking stall! When renting a condo, there is NO maid service, but they do provide fresh towels mid-week. (plus there is coin operated laundry on each floor to use as needed)
One block to Waikiki Beach. Close to Kapiolani Park which is home to all kinds of entertainment and attractions. A favorite spot for locals and vacationers alike... The zoo is even closer! Within walking distance to lots of shopping, The International Marketplace, bus stop nearby as well. Great central location yet still on the quiet end of Waikiki. Even a grocery store is within walking distance!!
This location is near to many restaurants. One of our favorites is Cheeseburger in Paradise. Near to McDonalds and other fast food type restaurants. You wont have to walk far to find something that suits your taste or your budget.
