The nearby Riverfront trolley can shorten your trip into the French Quarter which itself can require several hours on your feet. Close enough to be very convenient but far enough away not to worry about being embarrassed.

Tulane University is a short trolley ride the other way and a great place to see a little more class of the city. Fine dining is to be found within the Quarter and also far from the hustle of so many other tourists.
