New India Timeshare Resort Being Planned
Written by: Traver
The concept of timesharing has spread around the world in a relatively short amount of time, timeshares were introduced in Europe around the 1960s and showed substantial gains in momentum and profit until the last couple of years where the growth of the industry has started to decline somewhat. Every industry has its ups and downs the timeshare industry is no different, the last couple of years the number of new timeshare resorts being built has slowed down, this is mainly due to the status of the global economy, when the economy turns around it can be expected the number of new resorts will also increase and new resorts will be built in areas where the economic growth is occurring. One country where economic growth is beginning to happen is India; due to the increase in the economy residents now have a greater amount of disposable income increasing the demand for new timeshare resorts in this area. According to Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee over the next fiscal year India’s economy is set to increase by the amount of 8.5%, as well as another increase of 9% for the following year, making this the prime time for the building of new timeshare resorts.
One company planning to capitalize on this economic growth in terms of India timeshare sales is Sterling Holiday, who is currently planning to build a new timeshare resort somewhere in India. Although the plans are still in the beginning stages the company is reportedly going to spend about $10.8 million on the new timeshare resort, as well as hiring around 200 new employees to help during the planning and building phases of the new project. According to a BusinessWeek.com article the demand for timeshare vacations across India timeshare vacations has increased around 25 percent as the economy continues to grow, in order to accommodate this new demand for the product Sterling is continuing to expand. Even though the main focus of this resort will be residents of India, Sterling may also be able to tap into a couple of different segments of timeshare travelers from the United States. The USA is considered a cultural melting pot where people come from around the world come to live out the American dream; many of these people are from India. If Sterling is able to accommodate these families while on their trips back to their home country this could introduce an entire new segment of travelers to their business model. Business relationships between India and the United States are becoming more prevalent as companies begin to outsource daily routines to workers in other countries, making business travel to India a necessity. Marketing to businesses in the United States who have operations in India and other parts of Asia could also help boost sales both at existing Asia timeshares and this new resort Sterling is planning to build.
