RCI Renews Affiliation With Bluegreen

Written by: Traver

Members of both Resort Condominiums International (RCI) and Bluegreen Vacation Club were excited to know the affiliation between these two entities would be renewed. The announcement came at the beginning of February, virtually extending the reach of either network to be used by its members. The agreement allows members of RCI to have access to weeks deposited by Bluegreen Vacation Club members and vice versa. RCI has more than 3.7 million timeshare owners who utilize their service worldwide, for those who are unfamiliar with RCI they are a timeshare exchange company, which allows members to deposit their timeshare week into a pool for other members to use, once a week is deposited the owner can decide to use any other week at any other location around the world deposited by another member. RCI has affiliations with more than 4,000 timeshare resorts in over 100 countries around the world; in essence someone who purchases a week at one of the affiliated resorts is able to travel the world simply by depositing and exchanging their timeshare with other owners from other locations. While RCI allows most timeshare resorts to be affiliated with them and owners at these resorts are allowed to participate in the exchange system, Bluegreen only allows owners who have purchased a week at a timeshare resort owned by Bluegreen to participate in their exchange program. Bluegreen operates on a points based system, with this type of system the owners is assigned a certain number of points for every week they purchase, the points can be used throughout the network of resorts owned by the company offering the points. Points based timeshares are growing more and more popular because of the freedom and flexibility they offer owners throughout the system. When asked about the agreement between these two company Geoff Ballotti, CEO of RCI, had this to say “We are extremely pleased to renew our partnership with the Bluegreen family and their fantastic owners. By building on our great relationship with Bluegreen, we can continue to offer RCI members around the world the opportunity to experience the wonderful collection of resorts that Bluegreen has to offer.”

The relationship between these two companies will benefit both parties, more importantly it will benefit people who own weeks affiliated with either of these companies. Anytime two companies join forces to try and make the experience better for the end user they are on the right track and the agreement normally is viewed as a good thing. The agreement between these two will also by a major selling point for the resorts affiliated with either of the systems as it expands on the already numerous travel options one would find when joining either program, anytime a salesperson is able to offer more options to a traveler it will make the product sound more enticing.
