With the current state of the economy many families find themselves looking for ways to stretch their vacation budget. There are many ways to save money while on vacation and getting to a vacation destination. Since VTR is dedicated to timeshare rentals and resales I will discuss ways that a timeshare unit can help save money as well as other options.

Looking for last minute timeshare deals can be a great way to save money on lodging while on vacation. Many timeshare owners have specific weeks they must use or the unit will simply go unoccupied. Often times owners will rent the unit at a highly discounted rate to recover at least a portion of their annual costs for owning the unit. VTR has an entire section dedicated to last minute timeshare deals; the information in this section of the website is updated on a weekly basis.

I would also recommend signing up for the weekly top 20 travel deals newsletter we send out in partnership with TravelZoo. In addition to discounts on timeshare units, this newsletter also contains some the lowest prices on airfare and alerts you when there may be discounts on hotel rooms. Although some of the options presented in this newsletter may not be exactly what you are looking for there are some really low prices out there and this will bring all of them to you in one place.

Something I have learned while traveling is the closer you get to the featured attractions in a vacation destination the more you will spend on lodging. If you don’t mind driving a few miles extra or spending a little more time getting the destination you will normally make up for it in the price you pay for lodging.
