Lake Tahoe - What a Vacation!
Written by: Traver
Fantastic is a word that comes to mind when I think about my recent vacation to Lake Tahoe. There are so many activities and places to see in this area, I don’t even think I will be able to touch on all of them. We stayed at the Tahoe Beach and Ski Club, which I highly recommend. The staff was very friendly and helpful, I chatted with them on several occasions. They gave me some great tips on getting around and things to do during our stay, which I will share in some later post. For this post I will be giving a general description of the area.
We arrived at Reno Airport took the South Lake Tahoe Express, a shuttle that runs from the airport to South Lake Tahoe. This was a great value at only $26 for a one way trip per adult. We decided this was a much better option than renting a car as no one in my party had ever been in the area before. Check in was a breeze when we arrived at the resort, even though it was after normal business hours. The next day it started snowing and continued to do so for around two days. At higher elevation in the mountains, the entire system dropped around 2 feet of snow, which was great since the area had not had too much snow this season. This made for some great riding when the sun finally came out on Wednesday.
South Lake Tahoe is a truly unique place, providing something for everyone in the family, no matter what the age. There are great restaurants, skiing, snowboarding, casinos, boating, beach (not in the winter of course), hiking, mountain climbing, biking, water skiing, the list goes on and on. The great thing is everything is conveniently located in about a two mile radius so you do not have to travel very far once you arrive at your destination.
The mountain that we rode was called Heavenly, and when I was able to finally see the view I understood why. To actually get to the ski runs on the mountain you have to ride a gondola about half way up, which gives you a great view of the lake and mountains all in one shot. As I had mentioned, the first two days we were there it was snowing so we had zero visibility, on third day I had no idea what we were in for, I turned around and saw the view below.

I hope the picture can do it justice as this was one of the most spectacular places/views I have ever seen in my life. I have been to many other trips to ski or snowboard, but have never seen a view like the one provided by Lake Tahoe.
Most of the local people are very friendly and I found it surprising how diverse the population was in this one small town. I met people from all over the world, about 10 different countries from 4 different continents, not including the United States or North America. The diversity provides for a great atmosphere and intriguing conversations. I find it very interesting to learn about the cultures of different parts of the world and the people that come from those places.
I invite you to continue to read this blog, in the next couple of posts I will get more specific about the trip. I will provide information on restaurants, snowboarding, casinos and many other items.

Sounds amazing! Any suggestions for finding a Tahoe timeshare? There seem to be so many that it’s hard to choose. What’s a good price to pay for one?

Carol, thanks for your comment. I would suggest using our Advanced Search Feature, it will allow you to narrow down the results for a partcular area. You can add specific parameters, for example number of bedrooms, bathrooms, amenities, dates, etc. The price you pay will depend on a number of factors, number of bedrooms, time of usage. You will pay a premium if you travel during a high demand week such as Christmas. I always recommend that renters contact as many people as possible to find the best deal. For this trip I was able to find a one bedroom at Tahoe Beach and Ski Club for $400 for an entire week.
Thank you,
Traver

hi traver! happy to know you had a wonderful time. nobody and nothing can take away one’s breath better than nature. the u.s. is just over abundantly blessed with them, maybe to remind its denizens of the creator. unfortunately, not many credit him for it even when they do gasp with untold pleasure and surprise at the sights.
which resort did you use?
