I waver between 2 & 3 star rating. Overall the resort was ok - it wasn't overlly unclean, just in need of some serious TLC. After arriving back home, I found something that indicated "unrealized potential" and that is exactly how we feel. Their marketing package is great - but very misleading. I would consider anything that indicates they are a resort and spa to be very high class and I'm not a high class type of person. Therefore, prior to arriving at the resort, my expectations were very high, but the resort came in very low compared to my expectations based on the info provided. They were definitely cutting back in many areas. The information in the local 2005/2006 "Ascutney Magazine" showed either an old picture of the inside pool when it was originally done, or a mock of what it was supposed to be because the pools we saw were in poor shape with tarps on the ceiling, broken concrete, open covers. The pool itself was clean. The hot tub was more of a personal homeowner size tub - not meant to accommodate the large resort. It was the largest workout area of any timeshare we have visited thus far. They were short-cutting in all areas - maintenance, upkeep, robbing broken appliances, etc from 1 room to satisfy another. Ice buckets in all condos and each room within condo, but no ice machine!
If you are looking for a high end resort and spa - this is not it. If you go for a nice place with a relaxing atmosphere and in the mountains, you will be fine. Overall, it was just an older resort in dire need of some TLC. If we had not been misled with all the information provided prior to our trip, we wouldn't have been so disappointed when we arrived. Also - Nextel service is scattered in this area and mostly non-existent at the resort (not something they can control, but good to know).
We heard from another family that they are very strict and wouldn't let them check in early - they were too busy to allow them in before the 5 pm check in.
We would stay here again, we just know what to expect now and not to expect what they portray. -Review courtesy of Gayle Younglove (stayed during Jun, 2006) |

This was by far the worst resort i have ever stayed at. We were not informed that check out is at 10am until we got a call from a cranky housekeeper at exactly 10:05am! After requesting a hair dryer we were again informed that we were overextending our stay; it's still not even 10:30 yet. Their cafe closes at 10am so there was no coffee available. The room was of good size but the adjoining room was in the next door neighbors bathroom and the walls were paper thin. I did NOT need to hear this gentleman every time he went to the bathroom. Furthermore what he did at night with a woman he picked up from the bar! Thank gawd we didnt have our children with us.
The whole resort is in great need of serious repair. There was mold on the broken down, chipped wood railings. The pond looked more like a sewer and smelled awful. The management was disgusted if you asked for anything. We were unfortunitly roped into taking a time share tour and that was a complete disaster. What was supposed to take 90 minutes took THREE HOURS. And in the end when we wanted more time to think about our purchase the sleazy salesman got nasty and insulted us. I couldnt wait to leave the whole experience. From the nasty dirty rugs in the halls to the nasty salesman i was done with Ascutney Mountain Resort. NEVER AGAIN!!!

I exchanged my timeshare from florida to there interval told me it rated a 83% it was far from that this place was exactly like all the other reviews that you have been reading. whoever stayed there on New Years I like to know what building you were in. we were in Hanover. it was gross noisy at night and doors slaming.I will never go there again or recomend it to anyone elese I'd should have gone to New Hampshire or Okemo Mountain. I tried to stay in distance to work as well as enjoy to find no cell reception there. the tower is at the top of the mountain. you had to drive 5 miles down to get messages . the other thing wireless you have to go to the reception area with your laptop and PAY! it should be available in your condo.. never ever again I did make the best of it. but this wasn't like my resort in Florida... -Review courtesy of Diane (stayed during Jan, 2008) |

We stayed at Ascutney Mtn Resort now owned by Orange Lake with our 4 children the week of July 4,2008. Orange Lake formally took over daily operation the day after we arrived. The main building was dated and need a good overall clean sweep and update. The staff was great at cheack in, calling about handgliding for that day and making reservation, and at check out. I called prior to our visit and was sent quite a few leaflets about things to do in the area. We did not have opportunity to eat at the restuarant on site. Our unit was the 2 bdrm lock off with full kitchen. The room was updated, clean and equiped with flat screen tv & dvd player. The laundry room was down the hall and few steps to small landing w/o a charge. The name of the building escapes me. It is next door to main building for check in. You can use a walk way at the side of our building to get to rear of main building to reach arcade and snack shop. I have viewed recent pictures while at Orange Lake in Florida last week. They look great. When they have updated the entire property to look like the building we stayed at it would be great for everyone. We own 3 weeks with Orange Lake in Florida -Review courtesy of beefstew (stayed during Jul, 2008) |

Very disappointed with our stay at your resort. Requested queen size bed and got 2 twin beds with uncomfortable mattresses. Tried pull-out sofa and felt the springs. No blinds on the living room windows. Very small dresser in bedroom. Bathroom was very small with very little counter and storage space. Kitchen was OK, but microwave had a turn table that didn't fit. Can't say we had a pleasant experience. -Review courtesy of Naomi Benedek (stayed during Oct, 2009) |
